What is a Lighting Energy Assessment and Savings Projection?
Upgrading to LED is about results – a decrease in your hydro consumption, equaling or improving the quality of your lighting, and eliminating frustrating replacement and maintenance costs. But your results should be measurable, that’s where our Lighting Energy Assessment and Savings Projection comes in. It is a comprehensive tool that delivers information on your current lighting energy consumption and cost as well as the decrease you can expect when you upgrade to LED.
We’ll visit your facility and gather information on hours of operation, current hydro cost, the areas where you’re happy with your current light levels, areas you’d like to improve the lighting, and other background information. Then we’ll survey your facility making notes on the placement of your lights, height from the ground, type of light, current light levels etc. For any exterior lot lighting, after dark, we’ll take measurements of those current light levels.
With this information, we can calculate your current annual energy consumption and cost of your existing lighting. We’ll also create a custom LED lighting plan specifically for you including an engineered report showing the light levels with LED. Once that is in place we’ll present our findings to you. This report will outline your current costs, projected savings from upgrading to LED, upgrade investment, payback period, and the rebates you’ll qualify for.

LED is the most energy efficient means of lighting. LED produces equal or greater levels of light, compared to legacy lighting technologies, using far less hydro. By reducing your hydro consumption your bill will decrease and you will save money. LED also had a very long life and will save you in replacement/maintenance cost for years to come

If you don’t have an electrician, we can arrange for a team of electricians who are familiar with LED retrofits and lighting controls to look after your installation. They’ll ensure that all necessary permits are pulled and all work is done to code.

In many cases we’re able to make the monthly payments less than the monthly savings to the hydro bill, making LED upgrade projects cash flow positive from the start. LEDs have a very long lifespan. The life of your LEDs will depend on the manufacturer that we work with and the size and type of light. Fluorescent replacements are all expected to last for over 50,000 hours, many of our outside and high bay style lights have lifespans exceeding 100,000. The Canadian made 63 watt outside lights, in the bottom left picture at the top of this page, have a projected life of 162,000 hours.
Every LED light we carry has been tested by an outside party, either Energy Star or Design Lights Consortium (DLC), to ensure that they are built to last. In fact, they aren’t eligible for rebates unless they have passed these strict testing procedures. We only represent North American-based manufacturers and distributors who have a track record of product excellence and longevity. In the unlikely event of a light failure, you will be covered by a warranty from a Canadian or American based company
We’ll visit your facility and do an assessment of your existing lighting. This assessment covers the hydro consumption and annual hours of operation. From there we’ll prepare an LED retrofit plan. This will show you how much hydro you can expect to save. If you decide to go ahead we’ll then apply for your saveONenergy rebate. Once we have received rebate approval we’ll do the installation. After payment, we’ll submit your rebate claim and you’ll have your cheque in a matter of weeks.
